What can I say? I was first an "Apple" guy back in the mid 80's, then went to PC's simply because of the lack of programs for Apple products.

I would consider this to be a viable MacBook Pro for another 1-2 years for purchase mainly because it still runs the Latest version of Mac OS X (Mountain Lion), and can hold 6GB of RAM which is will be adequate through the next couple of years. I would rate this as one of the best buys currently for MacBooks because they tend to be slightly lower in cost (being non-Unibody) and yet perform virtually the same (or better in the case of MacBook Pros without discrete graphics) with comparable internal components. However, it doesn't take long to get used to the new keyboard style. The keyboard is more traditional and doesn't have gaps between th e keys as the later models do. The keyboard is also silver along with the rest of the MacBook Pro, the newer MacBooks have black keys. I do like the matte finish over the glossy finish with the newer Unibody MacBook Pros better. (However the DDR2 RAM is more costly than the DDR3 RAM, around 150% more currently, this and earlier MacBook Pros take DDR2 RAM, all Unibody MacBook Pros take DDR3 RAM) These models can take up to 6 GB of RAM, nearly as much as the 8 GB maximum of the late-2008 to mid-2010 models. This model runs at 2.5 GHz and is very fast, I have a 2.6 GHz model also and don't really notice a difference. This is the last model produced before the Unibody MacBook Pro were released later in 2008. This is a classic (non-unibody) MacBook Pro. Great Classic MacBook Pro, great value and still runs the latest OS X
